This listing is for a framed, completed crewel made from the McNeill SuperStitchery Kit #5101 Owl Family. It depicts 3 whimsical owls with differing facial expressions, all created using thick yarn. It is stretched and framed. Large size at just over 19 inches x just over 23 inches. Likely from the 1970s or early 1980s.
Ready to hang on the wall of your kitschy midcentury modern bungalow living room, or in your groovy 1970s bar! A really striking piece of art that will make you smile. Neutral, natural colors of gold, brown, sandy tan, and white.
Condition: this is a vintage, completed piece of textile art and does have some wear / inconsistencies. The frame has some wear, as well as some missing wood shims on the back (not visible from the front). The crewel itself has some slight discoloration, and some wear to the yarn in a few spots (see photos) — to be expected with vintage textile art. The loose yarn can be pushed into place to mostly cover these pulls. Overall, presents very nicely!
