Mary Kirk Kelly Melon Honeydew Signed Porcelain Fruit Realistic Sculpture

This listing is for 1 ceramic sculpture of a melon, perhaps a honeydew melon or a cantaloupe, created and signed by Mary Kirk Kelly (1918-2013), an American artist from Alabama. She is known for her realistic, naturalistic ceramic sculptures of vegetables and fruits.

Condition: These pieces are handcrafted and anomalies/inconsistencies are possible. There is a small hole from the way Mary Kirk Kelly created the fruit using slip-cast ceramic. There is also a very small rattle on the inside, likely from when/how it was created. No chips or cracks. Piece has been gently cleaned (damp cloth only). This piece does seem to have some minor spots of paint loss (?)/ scuff marks— not sure if these were original. This piece has a dry texture, and some intentional “split” marks sculpted into the clay to simulate the texture of a real ripe melon.
