This is an etching by Johann Christian Reinhart from the collection Malerisch radirte Prospecte aus Italien (1792–98). It depicts a pastoral scene in the Colosseum of Rome. It is 1 of 24 that Reinhart contributed to the publication. It is handsomely framed under glass in a decorative gilt frame. The frame has some small losses as seen in the photographs. The etching itself is in a near flawless condition. On the reverse of the frame there appears to be a lot sticker numbered 97 perhaps from an auction this particular piece appeared in.

Johann Christian Reinhart (24 January 1761 – 9 June 1847) was a German painter and engraver. He was one of the founders, along with Joseph Anton Koch, of German romantic classical landscape painting.
