Julie Billiart, SNDdeN (12 July 1751 – 8 April 1816) was a French Catholic nun, educator, and cofounder of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Billiart, who was called "Mother Julie", founded schools and homes for poor girls in France and Belgium. She is considered the patron saint of educators and teachers. She was beatified on May 13, 1906, and canonized on June 22, 1969. The Catholic Church recognized her sainthood as Foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
